Earth Day Photo Celebration From NASA And Finally Finding a Home.

Happy Earth Day Everyone!

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day the people at NASA have released a collection of beautiful images -  below.

Maybe I have been watching too many episodes of  Start Trek Voyager but when I looked at those photos my heart welled-up and I felt pride.

In my early teens Bangladesh was my 'home', it was the place of my ancestors even though I was raised and living in London. My family and I would visit Bangladesh regularly. Most of my extended family were still in Bangladesh, including my grandparents whom I loved dearly. My parents longing for the motherland instilled in me a great bond and love. However as I grew older, the bond that my parents passed onto me with the place they grew in, made stories, relationships and connections - were surpassed with my own bond and love with London.

I am now 25 and I still consider London as my home, well actually the last few months I have been accepting San Francisco as a potential home.

It most defiantly is an evolutionary tribal trait, the need to be part of something. We are still searching for a tribe we belong to, let it be a tribe of Trekies or Bollywood lovers. I believe it is not the environment that has the power to become our home, but the people that we interact with and meet within that environment.

Leaving London was very hard for me, I am still overcoming the 'loss' of this 'home'. Looking at the images from NASA a thought just popped into my mind, a thought that made me smile. I have had one home really. One place where I have always belonged. I have always been laying my hat on the same road. Home has always been here, home is the beautiful blue oceans and the wonderful white clouds, Home is Earth.

It really is a Happy Earth Day.
