The shopping bag with a real message - Forever21 John 3:16.

Just saw this at the bottom of my Forever21 shopping bag. I googled John 3:16. This is what I found, from the Bible.

John 3:16 (New International Version)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.".

Traditional marketing with a twist. A wonderful way to spread something you believe in. Forever21, a corporation that has a soul - Nice.

Yup after a 10month break from the desi dating scene, I am thinking of moving back into it. It will not be personalized, as that drove me plane crazy.

Random photo from My Wedding.

One of the most searched term on my blog is 'Fatema Yasmine Wedding Photos'. Funnily enough I only have about three photos form my wedding day shared online. So I have decided to post some up. There were three events during the day, registration, nikah and reception. My husband and I decided to get married on our anniversary, the 22nd of September.

First: The Registry Office @ Islington Town Hall

Second: Nikah @ Regents Park Mosque

Third: Reception @ Nottinghill.

This photo is from the Registration. Will upload a full Wedding album later.

Little Fatema - Age 7ish (Photo)

I have very few photos of when I was young. So I was super excited when my sister found this one, taken at school. I can hardly believe that it is me in this photo, baby teeth still in tact. Same annoying naturally tapering eye-brows. My face looks so young. Why the greasy hair? No I didn't have an accident with a tub of hair jell. I used to have super long hair that would tangle itself into a birds nest. To deal with this, my mother would cover me in coconut hair oil. This ritual continued even when my hair was cut shorter. Yes, that is right. Mother would send me to school with oil saturated hair. lol #DesiMumFail.

Thank you Heps for sending me this photo.

Love you really Mum.

Essential reading for Boys and Girls. How to Tame the PMS Monster.

I was talking on the phone to a good friend of mine on Monday, about the monthly transformation of women everywhere into the Incredible Hulk. This promoted me to share my not-so-secret-formula into taming the beast.

Pre-Menstrual Syndrome or PMS as it's more commonly known, is a Bitch. Each women has different leading symptoms and gets possessed in different stages in their cycle.

It has taken me 4 months to understand and treat PMS. If I can do it, so can any women out there.

Don't give up on The One. Find him instead.

xxxxx Begum June 23 at 3:28pm
Thanks Fatema for writing back to me. I wish I had the writing skill. I have lot of abrasive thoughts but it's hard for me to put them on the paper. Reading from your blog I gathered you are from Bangladesh. Were you born there? Have you been there recently? The reason I asked there are so many social, political issues going on which you can write about.

I also enjoyed the blog about how women shouldn't be afraid to put themselves out there. They should always be vocal about their expectations to men. One of my close friend who is pretty, attractive, career oriented woman lost the faith of meeting someone who she can settle down with. Not only her, I myself wonder is there such thing as The One!

Take care.
Fatema Yasmine June 23 at 4:44pm  Save
Hello XXXXX,

I am from Bangladesh. I was born in Nobigonj, Sylhet - I moved to London when I was three. Sadly I am not in touch with Bangladesh as much as I would like. I visit there every other year or so.  I like to support individuals who are looking to do good, rather then fixate on the bigger picture. I've tried that and hit brick walls a number of times. If there is a particular issue you would like me to give attention to, please let me know.

You know I started writing when I got out of a bad relationship. It helped me make sense of my emotions and the world around me. It kept me sane. Other then English GCSE, I've not had any formal training. If you want to write, just do it. Make notes on Facebook and share with your friends - that's how I became more confident. My friends really enjoyed my notes. You should do the same, it may pleasantly surprise you and give you a ton of confidence too. Then if you want to take it further, start a blog. If you're not sure about grammar, spelling etc - pick up a book. I used 'The Dummies Guide to English Grammar'.

There is such a thing as The One. The One that will complete you. In fact I believe there are Many One's out there for each person. For me the definition of The One is; someone that is compatible to you. There are many that are compatible to you, as humans we are not that vastly different from one another. When you eliminate The Many and commit, you have chosen The One.

:)

Never give up hope, you're in a great place to start searching. You and your friend do it together - have fun! Giggle over the horror stories. Pine over the cute one's. Make it a fun activity. Join a few dating websites - Desi families are not as great as we would like them to be at introducing us to the type of people we would consider marrying. The arranged/assisted marriage system is running out of steam. Desi parents and extended family don't know enough people, to keep the flow of introductions continuous. And they don't truly know their children, because children raised in the west are forced to hide their multi-cultural identity. It's not the fault of the parents or the now adult children, it's an emerging problem from being Desi (raised in the West) but not  Deshi (raised in South Asia).

Some Very Cool / 'Geeky' Soap Bars.

I really don't like the definition/first paragraph of geek on the original website where these images were posted.

Take a look for yourself:

"If you are one of those to whom people refer to as a “geek” then there is a high probability that they might also make some presumptions such as you take bath only once a week (or month), you wear clothes that have not been washed for days, and you are the worst example of a metro sexual male.".

Probably you are one of these kinds in real or your thick spectacles and fizzy uncombed hair provoke people to think of you as a filthy geek. However, they need not think of you as one anymore, especially after looking at your cool collection of geeky soaps." - Walyou.com

Not everyone that is a geek is a freak. Some of us geeks are super sexy and WAY more cooler then the 'cool kids'.

Aside from the dislike of Walyou's idea of geek, I do really like all the quirky funny soaps that were displayed. Here are a selection of my favourite soap bars from the article

Angelina Jolie too Skinny in Salt Film Trailers - (Photos)

Recently in the cinema I watched a trailer for the new Angelina Jolie Film, Salt. The film is coming out next month and the trailers are pretty much everywhere. The official poster for the film features a very photo-shopped close-up of Jolie, where she looks totally amazing. Her face in the posters appears to be 'plumped up'.

However in the rest of the trailer she looks terribly thin and dare I say it, not attractive. I have always supported Angelina's quirky beauty. She has a very unusual face - but immensely beautiful non the less. Jolie's atypical beauty gives hope to women everywhere - you don't need to conform to be beautiful. Her huge lips, square nose and small eyes - are not not typically  found in beauty pageant winners. What I am trying to say is that I find her to be one of the most beautiful women in the world, and saying she looks bad is VERY hard for me.

Be Lady-Like. Bring Back Parasols (Fashion and Style)

No I will not make any Rhianna references - although the song has been playing in my mind over and over and over again.

Why: A perfect, simple and fun way to make an impact this Summer is to get yourself a Parasol or two.  Parasols are Umbrella's made from fabric to protect the face from the Sun, the opposite to Umbrellas. Parasols were very popular in Victorian England with the gentry and it's time to bring them back to the streets of London (and everywhere else). This is a quirky way to feel not only uber ultra stylish but also like a true lady. Finding the right parasol for you will be a bit tricky as the highstreet shops have not picked this trend up yet.

Hair Extensions: What, Where and Why (Question and Answer)

Here is another Hair question that I received recently:

Fareha Jasmin Khan June 2 at 7:00am  Report

hiya - just had a browse through your prof via friend suggestions - loving the blog! ps: do u have extensions (personal question i know but im so sturggeling to grow my hair long again xx
Yasmine Fatema June 4 at 3:57pm

Hello - I have had extensions to make my hair longer (photo below). Now it's all just my hair. It's super hard to grow hair long, esp when it's in that yuk middle length. Extensions are a great way of dealing with the middle length problem.

Don't go for the horrible glued in hair extensions. They can cause your hair to fall out and look like big dandruff if your hair ever moves.

The Rules for Dating to get Married

I love relationships, talking, listening, understanding and listening again. That is one of the reasons I set-up my personalized match-makings service in London.

I've been asked to post more on relationship issues and because this gives me great pleasure I will do so.

*Big Smile*

The Rules for Dating to get Married: Rule One - Expectations.

Ladies when you begin dating it is OK to let the Gents know that you are looking to settle down. Not on the first date but within the first month if you like him. Your time is precious to you, don't think he will change suddenly. There is nothing wrong with having 'THE CONVERSATION' - it doesn't mean you are desperate. It means that you are honest and open. He may only be looking for some short-term fun.

You are preparing the stage for him to enter your show.
